Research

Questions the Lab is designed to answer.

Research questions and methodology are configurable and versioned — final instruments and definitions require academic validation before any live research.

Research questions.

RQ1
RQ2
RQ3
RQ4

Method, in four stages.

Stage 1
Baseline

Define a measurable reference point and KPI set for one real workflow.

Stage 2
Intervention

Design and deliver a bounded, vendor-neutral implementation.

Stage 3
Measurement

Track outcomes at 30/60/90 days with full provenance per KPI.

Stage 4
Follow-up

Optional 6 and 12-month longitudinal observation and analysis.

Integrity principles.

01
Research-led, not consultancy-led

Implementation is a measured intervention under a protocol, not a generic automation service.

02
Vendor-neutral

We study outcomes, not adoption of any preferred model, cloud or supplier.

03
Baseline before intervention

No productivity claim without a documented pre-intervention reference point.

04
Human-in-the-loop

No automated final selection, rejection, research conclusion or governance approval.

05
Failures are findings

Unsuitable, cancelled and unsuccessful interventions are recorded, not hidden.

06
Consent and data separation

Operational, research and anonymised layers are distinct; consent is versioned per purpose.

The initiative is currently in its development and partnership-building phase. Scottish SMEs, researchers, universities and organisations interested in future collaboration can register their interest. Registering interest does not guarantee participation in a future pilot.
